Natural light is so warm and inviting.  Each portrait is taken outdoors with either full color or black and white film. (optional:  the black and white photos can be hand-colored)

Have you ever picked up an old photo of yourself (or any of your predecessors) and looked at the tiny figure in the photograph (amidst mostly background and harsh shadows on the face) and wondered what you REALLY looked like?  Dawn Glesener has…which is one motivation behind her “up close and personal” style.  “I want to be able to look back at photos and know exactly what the person looked like.”

Dawn’s style is engaging and casual.  “I like to tell a story with my photos.”  To Dawn, the background in a photograph is secondary.  She composes her portraits so that the subject fills the frame.  “People are important to me.  I like to emphasize a person’s face.”
